Jesse Lee Peterson and Larry Elder Hold Powerful Men’s Conference

BOND, the Brotherhood Organization of A New Destiny, held its “Seventh Annual Conference on Fatherhood and Men” on Saturday, June 18th, 2016 (Father’s Day weekend) in Los Angeles. BOND’s founder and president, Rev. Jesse Lee Peterson, was the emcee for the event that addressed serious issues facing men and families with a dose of comedy, lightheartedness and camaraderie.

Author and Salem Radio Network talk show host, Larry Elder, was the featured speaker at the event (WATCH 32-minute talk: Larry Elder on Hating & Reconciling with His Father…). He delivered a powerful talk on why black fathers matter, and gave a heartfelt testimony about his relationship with his own father. Larry talked about being estranged from his father for 10 years and what it has meant for him to reconcile with his dad. Larry writes about this in his book, Dear Father, Dear Son: Two Lives… Eight Hours.

Then, the conference transitioned into a panel discussion (WATCH 38-minute video also embedded above: What Men Think About Women, Dating, Sex & Money…) covering a host of issues facing men and our nation. Moderated by Jesse Lee Peterson, the panel featured Chris Patterson, business owner and restaurateur; Dr. Ryeal Simms, neuropsychologist and relationship expert; Kent E. Seton, Esq., managing partner of Seton & Associates.

The panel was dynamic, and the men were very honest. They discussed marriage, “dos and don’ts” of dating, the science of attraction, what it means to be a man, is it normal for men to be emotional, why so many men are having a difficult time finding a mate, and much more. The diverse panel had great insights, and it made for a fascinating and unique discussion.

Following the panel was the open forum and audience Q & A moderated by Jesse Lee Peterson (WATCH 24-minute talk: Why Evil Seeks to Destroy Men). Jesse talked about the state of men in our nation and reminded the audience that men have a special place in the family ordained by God. “When men are weak and out of order, the family and society suffer,” said Jesse. He added, “It’s time for men to return to manhood.”

Jesse cited various examples of how the weakness of men is hurting society. For example, the rise of so-called “transgender rights” and how some people are trying to change the laws and convince sensible people that we should allow men and women to use the same bathrooms and showers. Jesse said, “This is all due to the weakness of men, and things won’t get better until men are restored back to their natural state.” Then, the forum opened up to audience participation and Q & A.

Afterwards, the guys gathered on the patio to relax and enjoy mouthwatering food catered by KomodoFood.com. There were also raffle drawings for various prizes including Larry Elder’s book.

Overall, the evening was a success, and everyone left equipped with real tools they could apply right away to help improve their quality of life and relationships.
