Weak Father: Men's Forum Report

Jesse Lee Peterson led BOND's monthly Men's Forum on Thursday, October 6. Jesse's mission is to rebuild men. A child feels lost and incomplete when he has a weak father and emotional mother. In many cases such a boy or girl may never recover. New guys showed up — very intelligent, looking for answers to their issues. They'd been to different churches and in bad relationships. They talked about their their fathers and mothers.

How to Forgive Cruel People

(Watch 8-minute excerpt) At church, Jesse talked about evil he saw in people, but he has compassion on those driven by it. One woman said she suffered sexual abuse as a child and does not forgive. She will not pray consistently. One young man was raped by his stepfather as a young boy, and his mother became cruel toward him. Jesse said she cannot help herself. The young man asked how to forgive her. He had an affair with his father’s wife, but his father forgave him.

Why Is It So Hard to Repent?

(Watch 6-minute excerpt) At church, Jesse talked a little about the Charlotte riots after the police shooting of Keith Scott, a black man with a violent criminal past who allegedly would not put down a gun when police confronted him. Why do media and politicians give such attention to police shootings of blacks, when the majority of the time the blacks are armed or threatening police or others? Jesse shared context from researcher Heather Mac Donald.
