CHURCH NOTES

📖 Biblical Question: What is the distance between you and Jesus Christ?

📝 Assignment: Don’t agree or disagree with anyone. And see what happens.

0 Welcome

(0:00:00) Small talk… (0:04:48) Welcome (0:05:19) Punchie’s Coffee!

1 Anger is a false identity; Don’t have to be who you are

(0:05:27) JLP on anger

(0:06:29) Side-note to Derrick… (also after this time there’s a water bug that Derrick stomps)

(0:06:45) Man got into anger mode after a woman got angry with him in a parking lot.

(0:09:07) JLP: People get angry because they see anger as an identity. (0:11:20) Jesus on the Jewish leaders… on the inside you’re not clean — inwardly they’re evil. (0:12:14) Jesus: “You don’t have to be who you are anymore. You don’t wanna change, your form of identity. (0:13:33) You no longer have to be who you are. You must die to your social life. Take your cross. Let whatever happens to this false self. You can’t defend it.

Feel nothing for others…

You’re not supposed to feel anything when someone comes or goes in your life. (0:14:50) Get no identity at all… Let the world go to hell!

Gotta get to where you don’t feel anything for anyone going through whatever… (0:16:52) … Why do you feel bad for another person’s suffering? (0:17:52) Christ felt nothing for the people. He knew it wasn’t them. …

(0:18:39) You can overcome the false life … Who are you to feel anything for someone else’s suffering. Angry people are dangerous people. Human nature is evil. They will turn on you, at the blinking of an eye. There’s no love. … You can’t trust human nature. Don’t try to make yourself be this way: “I don’t care!” You’re lying. If you don’t care, why do you have to mention it? (0:21:19) You’ll start paying attention. *snap* Angry people see anger as as an identity.

Always trying to fit in… and cry at night. (0:23:36) … Nothing ever to be mad about. Anger is a false identity. (0:24:54) Christ died from identities.

(0:26:18) It’s not even you! It’s an illusion! Stop defending anger. People hold onto it and fight.

2A Feedback: You don’t care, but you handle people perfectly.

(0:26:46) Man is resenting people telling him about their problems. (0:27:35) It’s so interesting: You don’t care but you are able to handle people perfectly. For me, I don’t care. But: It’s with resentment.

(0:28:32) She relates to him. “I don’t caaaarrrrrre.” Why do you nod your head? You’re making them think you’re listening!

(0:29:54) Nick … no need to get frustrated… but …

(0:31:28) Who doesn’t get angry? Nick raises his hand… (0:32:18) Another young lady: I try to understand… (0:33:07) Shayan (sp) — it was a big problem before… I get angry when I see two people arguing about something, like on the Internet. I start judging. I think I know better. (0:34:19) Donyale…

2B Understanding can’t judge: They’re possessed by evil.

(0:34:46) JLP: I notice with angry people… You ask: Why are you angry? “I’m not angry!” They’ll say something that’s not true. They’ll just say, “You’re just denying it!” They think you don’t wanna admit you’re wrong. A dark mind. (0:35:37) JLP: The reason I don’t get angry anymore: I can see it’s not them. Possessed by evil. They don’t know that’s what’s going on.

(0:36:32) The young man speaks, and Jesse follows up with more… They get a sense of identity. He asks: Does understanding come from memories, your past? (0:37:56) No. … Understanding solves everything.

(0:38:50) Question from Shayan (sp) — thinking you understand means you don’t understand. … “higher thoughts” — (0:39:24) In God’s world, there’s no thinking. You will know by not knowing that you know. Deep, and true. Adam and Eve knew the Father without communication. They believed the lie that they could be God. Started thinking. The problem. (0:40:30) Thinking: A practical thought that’ll come up? Satan will distract you.

(0:41:07) JLP: You can be free.

3 Biblical Question and Assignment

(0:41:21) Biblical Question — Mimi … (0:42:51) She did the assignment

(0:45:06) Man realized he wasn’t judging people by neither agreeing nor disagreeing. Sort of like prayer, observing but not getting involved. Being stoic.

4 Work politics and (not) saying, “I don’t wanna hear it.”

(0:46:16) Ryan: 50/50 still got caught up agreeing/disagreeing … (0:49:39) You can be slick… What’s wrong with saying: I don’t wanna hear it. I don’t wanna talk about it. …? “Depends who you’re talking to — at work.” Why are you concerned about them building an army? What better route than the truth? (0:51:37) … You haven’t spent a lifetime telling the truth. You just discovered it. “What you’re saying can be considered rude.” Friends won’t be “butt-hurt” about it. “NPC’s”

(0:53:38) It draws more attention… Agree? (0:54:34) Young lady talks about avoiding drama… I’m saying “go away” nicely. “I don’t care about that. I don’t wanna hear it.” I’d rather say it in a softer way. Ryan and the young lady talk about politics at work — you have to be liked at work. (0:57:50) It’d be a thrill to say, “I don’t care!” I’ve used up all my “A-hole cards,” he says.

(0:58:37) Mimi relates … hell not being able to speak the truth… death of this social contract…

(1:01:30) Ryan: We have “HR” now. Long explanations on the new way, none of it job-related. In a transition, an older person going into a new culture. (1:03:22) Protecting your job (1:04:03) He tells a story of a man fired for staring at a woman too long — when he wasn’t! But they didn’t wanna hear it. (1:04:54) Overcome the world inside you and outside you.

5 Back to Assignment

(1:05:46) Assignment — Donyale sat in the hell of not agreeing or disagreeing. (1:07:44) JLP points out: It’s always about you. Everything you do is about you. Never about the other person. Always about self.

(1:08:48) Q related to Ryan’s issue… Donyale asks why it has to be so complex. (1:12:19) Ryan wants to stop being the person who gossips, or says stupid things that don’t matter.

Don’t like being likeable

(1:13:15) Franky asks why it’s painful for him… It’s hard not to be agreeable. You’re either agreeable or disagreeable, in your trait. I don’t like having a weak likeable personality.

(1:15:43) Man is in management. It’s offensive being likeable. People appreciate being straightforward. My wife rambles on…

(1:16:35) I failed half of the week, says another young man. I didn’t feel as drained, energy-wise. … I don’t have an issue saying shut up, I don’t wanna hear about it. People want to argue. I shrug them off.

(1:18:29) Asian guy: Not as much emotions, doing the assignment.

(1:19:24) Shayan (sp) realized three things. (1) feel safe. (2) if you’re blank-faced, it puts pressure on them. They’ll walk off. Or move on. (3) (1:20:44) Agreeing and disagreeing goes on in your mind. If you don’t catch it… I’m constantly disagreeing/agreeing with the Devil.

COMPLICATED BUSINESS… SILENT

(1:21:30) Another Asian guy: Working, I failed most of the time. … JESSE FELL OUT…

OK WE’RE BACK

(1:28:07) OK WE’RE BACK

6 Not agreeing or disagreeing: Trust truth

(1:29:58) Is it possible to communicate without agreeing or disagreeing?

(1:30:59) JLP: If you trust truth

7 BQ: Distance between you and Christ?

(1:34:12) Donyale… (1:36:17) Raymond: My ego (1:37:00) Young lady the mother didn’t think about it much or come to a conclusion … (1:37:56) Man: Just need to let go and fall into Jesus’s arms… (1:38:19) Another man: One thought away. (1:38:34) Young lady in glasses (1:39:12) Derrick: No distance. He’s like the Ark, and I’m like Noah in the Ark.

8 Is the ego the Devil?

(1:40:22) Nigerian gal: Is the ego the Devil? … JLP: We think it’s us! Isn’t that so deep?  (1:43:57) … You’re calling evil you! Like when the Devil comes through the woman. It’s not her. But it’s made a home in her! The spirit in her is evil.

9 JLP on BQ

(1:44:44) The distance between Jesus and you… we’ve been taught to think he’s so far off. … Thoughts, ideas, and belief separate you from Jesus in your mind.

(1:47:02) Feedback: Man’s mom, Catholic … People call him King.

(1:48:19) Q: You’re free? Or in prison? Illusion person is in the prison.

(1:49:51) A stranger would think thoughts and feelings are me! (Something like that.)

10 Christ is the light: Bring all your darkness to the light

(1:50:13) Christ is the Light. You’re coming closer to Christ when you bring all your darkness unto the light. Then you know you’re approaching Christ. Worries, doubts, fear, loneliness, neediness, looking for love…

(1:51:22) How do you know you’re doing that? (1:51:53) When you can take all your pain and do nothing about it… Count it all joy. Let it happen to the ego. Bringing all your darkness to the light when you do nothing about it. Let it happen.

(1:53:38) Do the Silent Prayer. Admit and forgive your mother and father.
