Church with Jesse Lee Peterson, Sunday, April 10, 2022: Some people have difficulty with vices such as inability to quit smoking pot! The key: stop trying. Jesse mentions the movie “What’s Eating Gilbert Grape?” Biblical Question: Do you know the way out of yourself? Jesse repeatedly urges different people to stay with the Silent Prayer. The Devil hates when you are quiet; you identify with him. The world thinks wrong is right, that abnormal is normal. (Rest in peace, Ariel.) When you hear the word “God,” what do you think? Let every thought go.

New Biblical Question: If a fool would persist in his folly, he would become wise. What does this mean?

Church Notes

10:59 AM US PDT We start streaming just before the hour. Jesse asks people if Church is helping.

Young man stuck on smoking pot

11:02 A young black man asks about a couple of vices he has, one specifically smoking pot daily. He doesn’t pray every day; he wakes up at 4:45 AM for work. After a young lady offers input, he says he reads or runs in order to stop.

11:09 Another young lady asks about taking the pain, whether it’s of not smoking pot, or some other thing. She’d smoke because she needs to stay busy, but wants to put off cleaning or other chores.

11:12 Franky tells his story of sitting in pain without the other things.

11:15 Yet another young woman said she smoked pot for 32 years, and replaced it with the Silent Prayer. She used to tell herself “this is my last cup” of coffee when she tried to quit — but failed.

The key: Stop trying

11:18 Jesse urges the man that the key is: Don’t try. Stop trying. Of yourself you can do nothing; of yourself you know nothing. It’s spiritual; there’s nothing you can do about it. You’re playing god by trying to do something, and judging yourself.

There’s no such thing as a good intention. The road to hell is paved with good intentions.

The soul wants the father; stay with the prayer

The young man says he forgave his dad differently from how he forgave his mother. Most adults do not resent their fathers; they resent the mothers. But they think they resent the fathers because of how the mother sees and talks about the father.

Jesse urges him to stay with the prayer. God’s love and light will cause your life to come to order.

‘…Gilbert Grape?’ Biblical Q: The way out of yourself?

11:22 Jesse then mentions the movie “What’s Eating Gilbert Grape?” Hassan talks about young Leonardo diCaprio and the big fat mama.

Jesse then asks the Biblical Question: Do you know the way out of yourself? (Jesse changed the Biblical Question on Monday from the one he mentioned last Sunday.)

The Devil hates when you are quiet

11:25 One young lady thought she knew the way out of herself. She says she does the Silent Prayer most mornings and nights, but has missed it a couple of times this week. Asked why not every morning and night, she can’t say. God said to pray without ceasing. She says she’s unsettled, and doesn’t like being in the moment.

11:29 Jesse says the Devil hates when you sit still; when you don’t sit still you’re worshiping the Devil. He would rather you become a Bible Thumper than be still and know God.

All feelings are of the Devil; in the moment, she feels like Satan doesn’t exist, but the feelings are her herself. It was hard for Jesse, too, to believe it wasn’t him because he’d identified so much with it. Have no ideas, zero thoughts, zero imagination. Get rid of all opinions. When you have no opinions, you have peace.

11:34 Jesse asks more people: Do you know the way out of yourself? A man brings up the importance of the prayer.

11:36 Another man says the way is losing your identity. What you think of as yourself are lies from the Devil.

JLP: Thinking wrong is right: Abnormal accepted as normal

11:37 Jesse talks more: We’ve accepted a wrong way of living as though it’s right. Human beings think stress, fighting back, and getting angry is normal. The world says Jesus was angry. But anger is not rational; it’s evil. Fear — God said perfect love would cast out fear.

Jesse mentions Christian “missionaries,” who go around the world teaching the Bible. That’s not normal! People feel good doing it!

Another thing people think is normal: Making excuses. It’s abnormal to have an excuse. Always be still in the midst of everything.

Stop protecting the Devil. Don’t protect the ego, the fear, doubt, worry, loneliness, jealousy…. “I can’t tell Mama the truth because I don’t wanna hurt Mama.” Instead, go face the Devil, and apologize for hating. But the world says: Don’t hurt Mama!

You’ve identified with the Devil and don’t know it. The light will show you that you’re worshiping the Devil. The hardest thing for human beings is to die from the old nature, rather than protect it.

We can’t judge one another; everybody’s ego needs to die.

You can’t even have an idea about God; you don’t know who God is. You try to live up to an idea of morality, but it’s not what you’ve been told it is.

There’s a Kingdom of Heaven within us.

You have to die in hell, and then you’ll rise and have life. Know that you don’t know the way out. Don’t pretend to know the way out.

When you let the ego die, you’ll see the kingdom. You won’t need other people; you’ll have everything. God loves the heart; He’ll take care of the vices; people are wicked, and they’ll turn on you. Trust no one with anger.

If you do get angry, notice it; do nothing about it. God loves us. Believe in Him.

Questions and feedback

11:50 A young woman asks about keeping aware of the ego as it comes up. Continue to grow in the light. Don’t judge yourself.

11:53 Ariel died! May his soul rest in peace.

11:55 Franky talks again.

JLP: When the world judges you, don’t judge yourself

11:58 Jesse talks about speaking with a woman who was a prostitute. Someone recognized her, and couldn’t believe it. They turned on her, acting as though they were better! Every human being has a vice; when the world judges you, you don’t judge them or yourself.

Stop naming and claiming it! You are not a pot smoker, not a pothead. Alcoholics Anonymous has the wrong idea! Some call themselves “saints.”

All thoughts are all lies, all the time.

12:05 A young woman hasn’t been around forever!

The word ‘God’? / Newcomers on anger

12:07 Jesse asks her: When you hear the word God, what do you think?

A few guys join us with their brother who brought them. One asks what if his dad’s really angry. He’s just like his mother; he’s a woman. Your mother’s not a victim; she’s crazy. It drives your daddy to drink. It makes him look like the bad guy, but it’s really her.

12:16 A different young man forgave his parents and felt a weight lifted. Jesse urges him to do the Silent Prayer. Come completely out of the imagination. Satan makes you think you’re regretting, but let it pass. He used to do drugs with bad friends who like to take advantage of each other.

When you hear the word ‘God,’ what do you think?

12:22 Jesse asks more people: When you hear the word “God,” what do you think?

JLP: Ideas about God: Let every thought go

12:25 Jesse says Satan will play with you about the word “God.” Let every thought go.

New Biblical Q: If a fool persists in his folly…

12:26 Jesse answers the prior Biblical Question: Know that you don’t know the way out of yourself.

New Biblical Question: “If a fool would persist in his folly, he would become wise.” What does that mean?
