Endurance, Part 1 (Sunday Service, Jan 4, 2009)

BOND Sunday Service, originally aired January 4, 2009: Jesse Lee Peterson wishes everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Did last year’s theme work for you? The theme was Practicing the Presence of God. Did you do it? Jesse took a week vacation in Hawaii at the end of the year and talked with different people out there. Everyone has the same issues: Husbands and wives don’t get along, or judge one another. Men are weak. Women are angry. Fathers fail their children. Jesse highly recommends Gran Torino by Clint Eastwood. (Mel Gibson is also good.)

Different people talk about their issues. One 21-year-old young lady asks whether she should have spoken up, as an issue at a dinner party arose with a drunk family friend. She felt she was judging him but he was acting foolishly and asking her to sit on his lap. He’s an alcoholic. Her dad defends their friend, and says she did right by leaving him alone, but says he’d have taken it well had she spoken up to the drunkard. Jesse says she absolutely should have said something. Speak up!

We also talk about endurance — this is part 1 of a 2-service discussion on endurance.
